| VAT calculator |
This calculator shows you how much VAT, based on the current standard rate of 15%, has been charged on a specified amount.
If the starting figure or price is the pre-VAT amount, you should check the ‘No’ button when asked: ‘Already includes VAT?’ The answers are then: the Net amount before tax, the VAT at 15% and the Gross amount including VAT.
For example, if the amount of the invoice before VAT (the starting point) is £9,900, you should check the ‘No’ button when queried if VAT-inclusive and the resulting answers are: Net amount £9,900, VAT £1,485 and Gross amount £11,385.
Similarly the calculator allows you to calculate the VAT and net amount before tax from only the gross amount including VAT. Check the ‘Yes’ button adjacent to the question: 'Already includes VAT?' This will generate the net amount and the VAT being charged at
15%. |
