Medical profession

In 2001, Condies set up The Financial Health Centre, a separate division to focus on the particular needs of medical practices.  At that time, we represented around 35 medical practices, and around 150 GPs.  The Financial Health Centre was the first "one stop shop" offering accounting, tax, legal and financial services to GPs.  Although we have never really marketed our GP offering, client numbers have grown largely by word-of-mouth referral to well over 120 practices and over 600 GPs.

There are two partners in the firm, Ian Condie and Pauline Scott, who spend the vast majority of their time advising GP clients.  They are supported by a team that spends all or most of their time in preparing accounts for medical practices or preparing GPs tax returns, expenses claims and superannuation certificates.

Our focus remains firmly on client service, and we will always try to ‘go the extra mile’ in exceeding our clients’ expectations.  Our regular seminars, Annual GP Conference, Practice Managers’ Workshops, etc are staged solely for our clients, and are designed to impart useful information to those attending, unlike many marketing orientated events.  Because of our very close involvement with what’s happening in the sector, we’ve developed a wide range of factsheets on current topics and for a variety of purposes that are only available to our clients.

Pauline presents at most of these events, and is an authority on what’s happening in the world of medical finance.  She’s the only Scottish committee member of AISMA (the Association of Independent Specialist Medical Accountants) which in turn consists of 75 firms of accountants representing over 9,000 GPs in 2,400 practices.  She is consequently at the forefront of new developments, and is able to put forward the views of Scottish GPs to an influential UK-wide organisation.     

As part of our ongoing development process, we regularly seek feedback from our GP clients to see if we can improve any aspect of our service further.  In our last survey -

• 98% said we offered value for money and would recommend us
• 86% rated our service as excellent or well above average

Our comprehensive range of services are available on a fixed fee basis, which the majority of our GP clients opt for, as it gives certainty as to the cost irrespective of the problems that may occur in any given year.  We also provide a service guarantee, and if we don’t live up to our claims, our client can choose to pay us what they believe it’s worth, or even nothing at all.
